Weekend Review

Rashad had a spectacular second quarter against the Portland Trailblazers on Saturday night, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Wolves from suffering a 97-93 loss at the Rose Garden.

No.1 was smoking hot in the second period, scoring all 13 of his points in the quarter with a combination of two free throws, two layups, two jumpshots and a three-pointer. He helped the Timberwolves lead by 12 in the first half.

Despite the defeat, Minnesota coach Randy Wittman was mostly positive after the game because of Rashad’s and the Wolves’ high performance level.

“If we play with this kind of intensity and effort, then we’re going to be all right,” Wolves coach Randy Wittman said. “We’ve got to be able to see that. It’s as simple as that.”

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
In Friday’s 121-109 loss at Sacramento, No.1 put in a productive 15 minutes, scoring eight points and gaining two of the Wolves’ six steals.

So far, No.1 has been putting on a show with his powerful jams. His dunk party continued on Friday, as he rocked the rim at the 8:17 mark of the second quarter. If you want to keep track, that’s already Rashad’s fourth dunk in six games so far.
