BLOG: About Fear
by Rashad McCants
What's up everybody. Thanks for coming to check out the new site. I've been wanting to share my thoughts with everybody about the game, what I'm doing with basketball and other stuff. So here's my first blog entry.
Hope you like it. Send me your questions, comments, that sort of thing -- if it's something that makes me think, it might make it in here.
A few weeks back, I found myself feeling afraid. I know that sounds funny for a guy with a tattoo that says Never Scared on his shoulder. We all face fear at some point.
I started the season as a starter, but after a time, I was out of the starting lineup. I definitely see myself as a starter…anybody who's a competitor, who's a champion in their heart, wants to be on the floor starting. I found myself feeling a little scared at times… which was a struggle for me.
Would I be the contributor on the Wolves that I know I can be? Was I going to be permanently relegated to sixth man duty when I should be starting? I decided, hey, this is my role right now, this is what my team needs me to do, so I put my fear aside and just focused on doing what I do best. Just playing the game. And things have been going good again lately.
I realized that I had nothing to fear.
While that was going down, it got me thinking about fear, about having a vision of myself to get through it, all that. So I put those thoughts together.
Thought I'd share them with you.
A man with a thought is a man with a vision. A man with an opinion is a man with a plan. A man with a vision is a man of the people.
People need guidance to the place they have never been. To walk in the dark is to be blind in the steps toward our future.
The voice of a man with a vision is the light to all shadows. How can we be blind to find that we know everything but can't see anything. You knew it was coming but you just couldn't see it.
I hear women talk all the time about being scared of relationships. Being afraid of being hurt like they were before. And they put their whole life on hold because of fear.
Fear of nothing that will actually kill you. Love doesn't kill you. You can only kill love. Fear cannot kill you. You are the one that kills fear. Feeding fear only makes your fear stronger.
Bravery has no importance in today's society. We have lost our sense of courage. Maybe because there isn't a reward for it. If a man or woman got rewarded for standing up for one's self, then there would be less fear.
But the reward for being fearless is honor. A fearless man is a man with a vision. Capable of sharing his courage with others. One man's courage is another man's fear.
Most envy those who have the guts to do what they would never attempt. The man that would swallow his pride to step aside in line for an elderly lady. A patient man is a man with unlimited pride and honor. A real man…
Listen to my vision. I am here to speak as a man with a plan for the people. A fearless courage with endless honor. Listen to my testimony and my confession as a man of sin. Listen to my cry...
This is my blog. Enjoy!!!!

Why?
Rashad -
I feel that you should be starting. You have the length, height, and athleticism to be playing the shooting guard spot (not to mention the skill). One of my buddies talked to Mark Madsen and he told me the reason why you do not start is because you talk back to Randy Wittman (even though Wittman says it's because you are the only one that can get it going in the second group without him having to worry about offense). Is this true? If it is, that is pretty harsh. I mean you practice hard (both in the gym and in the weightroom). That should not take away with the fact that you are the best shooting guard on the team. I also think they have given everything to Foye without him earning it. He seems more of a teachers pet anyways. He acts like a leader and tries to impress the coaches just for the sake of him saying, "I am the leader on the team." Btw, tell him that he needs to be practicing going to his left because everyone knows he is going right. I am also loving the repertoire of moves you have of scoring. I especially like the little MJ step back you do. You make them look silly. Anyways, just keep being you and I hope you do not get traded because that would be another Mchale mistake if he let you go. Later man.

FEAR IS A LACK OF FAITH
I respect your words because they illustrate the HUMAN side of you...the side people arent afraid to connect with...
I, myself, sometimes feel "AFRAID"...but FEAR is only present where faith doesnt reside...like someone else previously said in this blog in II Timothy it says "God has not given us the spirit of fear"....so wherever you find fear is the place you lack faith...the place u need to WORKOUT and BUILD UP...the place your FAITH has yet to grow...
Fear comes from being uncertain of what tomorrow holds. Being mortal beings we find security in KNOWING. That's why life is unpredictable. But I happen to know your purpose is FAR GREATER than your presumptions or uncertainties...so FEAR NOT...
God says in Jeremiah 29:11: "I know the plans I have for you" so even we ARE afraid take comfort in knowing it has ALREADY been worked out in YOUR favor....
NO TEAM, NO PERSON, NO FORM OF MEDIA CAN BREAK YOU!!!!! Cause they DIDNT MAKE YOU!!!!!!
Stay UP!!! Remember your tagline...you: YBG: Swagger is EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!! ;-)

Fear
First off I would like to say it's good to see an NBA player being honest, and that everyone can see the hard work you have put in. I feel your game has developed the most on the team, and by you coming off the bench you have re-evaluated yourself as a person and as a baskeball player. Keep up the good work I am routing for you.

Be Real
Both my parents when to UNC. I got really into carolina when it was your freshman year. I have watched every game of yours at the college level and at minnesota- being that i am from Wayzata, but now go to school in Denver. What I have noticed is that you either need to take over the game more- or get out of minnesota. Your game seems like it could be used more, and could realy help out a team that likes to run more.
Wow
real deep. good words to live by. Thanks Rashad!

I ask u #1, are u afraid of being hurt like u were b4. R U putting your life or others' lifes on hold because of your fear? If Love doesn't kill u, y r u afraid to love? I quote "Love doesn't kill you. You can only kill love" -Rashad Mccants (3/10/2008). If love doesn't kill u why r u killing love. I quote "You are the one that kills fear.
